Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE: WMT) announced Thursday it was closing more than 60 Sam’s Club stores including four in Arizona.
Retailers closing stores is nothing new in the age of Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN), outdated malls and too many rivals.
The likes of Sears (Nasdaq: SHLD) and J.C. Penney (NYSE: JCP) are experts at closing stores.
But Mark Stapp, an economist and real estate expert at the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University, said there is more to come.
